How do you do the "waiting game"?

Yesterday when I heard the news, after my biopsy was taken, that on a scale of 1-5 they gave me a 4 for a probability that I had cancer I was really pragmatic and wanted to discuss all the possible options with the breast cancer nurse.  Today I just feel physically sick and on the brink of having a melt down.

What hints do you have to distract yourself.  I have a 2-3 week wait for confirmation of the results.

Any advice appreciated.

Thank you.

  • Hi, I came across your post and empathise, I went for a one stop Breast clinic appointment yesterday and left having been informed that it was “highly likely “ I had bc. I had 3 biopsies with markers placed and now have to wait for results of what type it is and  the treatment pathway. I have done all of the wrong things, spent hours googling and have convinced myself of nothing but the worst case scenario. My results appointment is on the 11/8 and I have moments of feeling “ok” and then I get an overwhelming rush of anxiety and want to cry.

  • I gosh, I have been googling crazily too. I am now stuffing myself full of supplements and green juice which has got to be the most foul taste known to man so must be healthy!  I haven't been given a results appointment so have no idea how I will receive them.  I have put in a phone call to my breast nurse, hoping for a return call on Monday, I definitely need to ask about results.  I have a Note app on my phone and whenever a question comes into my head, I jot it down and then can forget about it until I speak to someone.

  • That’s a good idea about the notes. I have no questions currently apart from what is it and what’s the treatment plan!
mom not sure I could manage the green juice!

  • It comes in powder form and I add it to a berry smoothie which more or less hides the taste.
