7 weeks ago I fell off my horse and broke some ribs which led to a CT scan. The radiologist highlighted what he thought was a fibroadenomas but recommended there was further investigation. Today I went to the breast clinic and the ultrasound showed a dark shadow. Biopsies taken, so now the 2-3 week waiting begins. At the end of various mammograms, ultrasound scans and a mammogram with topography, I was invited into a room to discuss the results. You know the news isn't good when you get taken into a room with comfy chairs, a table and a box of tissues on the table. On a scale of 1-5, they have given me a 4 for the lump being cancer. Neither my GP nor the doctor at the breast clinic were able to feel the lump. The lump is 1.2 cm at its biggest, there is a positive to breaking your ribs! There is no family history of breast cancer. The probable course of action will be a lumpectomy and if I am lucky, no further treatment, just depends on what kind of cancer it is.
i just wanted to ask if the titanium clip they inserted during the biopsy is instead of the wire procedure before the lumpectomy?
I think the doctor was surprised how matter of fact I was when told but I had thought about the fact it may be cancer beforehand. I am generally quite a pragmatic person so just wanted to know everything about the treatment. I feel if I have all the facts then I am in more control.
So now the waiting game commences.
I just wanted to write this here because I don't have any intention of telling anyone about this until the results come through. Of course, my husband knows, he is away until tomorrow. I have also told my sister and we have decided not to tell my elderly mother until we know what the actual state of play is.
Thanks for reading my missive!
