Urology Telephone appt in morning

I have a urology telephone consult in the morning. I have no idea whether it is with my Dr or nurse and quite honestly I am stumped as to what I should be asking. I'm so nervous, my head has gone blank :/

I have a 43mm RCC mass with enlarged lymph nodes. I had a PET scan on the 27th June to investigate the lymph nodes further.

Obviously I would like to know the results from that and what we are going to be doing going forward. I have no other appointments as yet and no idea what they have in mind.

Is there anything else that I need to be asking?

Thank you in advance for any help or advice

  •  I'm sorry no-one was able to offer you any advice before you had your telephone appointment the other day Kittyslim, but I hope it went well and you're feeling more at ease about what's to come.

Hopefully some of our members will offer their support to you soon but if you'd like to discuss any of this with one of our cancer nurses, you can give them a call on 0808 800 4040. Their phone lines are open Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m and they'll do all they can to help.

Well it was an absolute waste of time, the cns literally just called to see how I was. When I told her I was getting stressed about scan results and what was to come next, she offered little to no support only to say that she would email the team. Scan results should be going to MDT on Tuesday so I should hear something Wednesday.

I'm emotional and struggling right now and feeling very alone. I've spoken to family who uttered the 'No news is good news' line which i loathe. I'll just keep quiet i think and pull up my big girl pants if I can find them.

  • I'm really sorry to hear that Kittyslim.

I know there's not much I can say or do that can make this any better but I hope you can take some comfort from knowing that we are here for you and will do all we can to support you during this difficult and anxious time.

I'll have my fingers crossed you do hear something on Wednesday, but I hope this article on how to cope with waiting for news will help in the meantime.

Do give our cancer nurses a call next week as they will do all they can to ease your mind until you find out more.

    Kind regards,

Thank you so much Steph, you have no idea how much your kind words have helped me today ♡

I will certainly have a read through of the link you sent and will be sure to have a chat with one of your nurses on Monday :-) I have been keeping myself busy making a birthday cake for my daughters little niece, so my mind has been occupied. It's the waking up in the middle of the night times that really get to me, but that's been since I first found out about my rcc and suspicious lymph nodes. I know once I know what exactly I am dealing with I will be able to cope much better and get the battle armour on!

    Thank you again x

  • Just writing to say thinking of you.
