Yesterday I got full period and am in soo much pain period cramps and lower back pain. I am on antibiotics now as I developed infection also. Anyone else experience painful periods? I also still have black discharge.
I have had CT scan and cancer hasn't spread next week I have MRI. This is such a tough time isn't it. I feel so helpless lost and anxious soo anxious. I cannot sleep. My hair is falling out and I have lost soo much weight.

  • Hello JOC1976

I'm sorry to hear about your recent diagnosis of cervical cancer. It's understandable that you're struggling with anxiety and sleeplessness at the moment.

It's good to hear that the CT scan showed that the cancer hasn't spread. IT can help to try and keep these positive points in mind, particularly on days when negative thoughts and emotions are close to the surface. Hopefully the MRI next week will give the team the final pieces of information they need to form your treatment plan and they will be able to tell you about the next steps.

In the meantime I'd encourage you to reach out to your GP to ask for some support with the sleep issues. I'm presuming that your weight loss is due to a decreased appetite or nausea. If so then do talk to your GP about this as well as they should be able to support you with this.

We know that for many people this period between diagnosis and treatment starting can be difficult. Often it can help to talk to someone about your concerns and how you're feeling. You might want to do this by contacting an organisation like Maggie's or you're welcome to call our nurses if you want to chat with them. They're available Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm on 0808 800 4040.

Keep in touch JOC1976 and let us know how you get on over the coming weeks.

    Best wishes,
