My mum was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer almost four weeks ago. It came out of the blue because she had had all the necessary scans and check ups. She was also always very proud of looking after herself. She had to have an emergency operation and when they opened her up she had this disease spread in the abdominal area. She is due to have chemo, but one doctor said it is a palliative measure. My heart breaks for her. I do not want her to go and I do not want her to be sad or go in pain. I know it's not necessarily the end but I also do not want to have false hopes.
