Has anyone been diagnosed with stage 4 Lung Cancer.

I was diagnosed with stages 4 Lung Cancer.
I am very devastated and feel hopeless.

  • Hi Lis,

Nothing too special for diet. My consultant said to get plenty of protein because I would need to make white blood cells - the things that Keytruda makes aware of cancer. Otherwise, just a standard healthy balanced diet.

I only avoided things that disagreed with the immuno, determined by trial-and-error, but they will be different for each of us so there's no point me listing them. If you get the runs (many do) just eliminate one thing at a time from your diet and see if there's a change.

    kind regards
    Steve

  • Good evening Steven,

Thank you over again for your reply - very helpful. Wishing you all the best with your treatment.

Your story is inspiring me to stay positive.

    Best wishes,

    Lis

  • Hello Lis,

I'm really sorry to hear about your health at the moment. When you hear stage 4 and see the older lung cancer statistics it can be sickening. However, the consultant told us that lung cancer treatment has become rapidly better over recent years and they told us not to look into the statistics as they take a hike to catch up.

My close family member was diagnosed in 2020. I remember the first days, we all stood in the kitchen sobbing. However, we are now three years from that point,  the chemotherapy and immunotherapy has shrunk the cancer so even though it is stage 4, it's being managed long term and being kept small and stable.

I wish you the very best of luck with your treatment. muddle through these first few weeks and listen to your  oncologists xxx

  • Hi, Alou11,

Thank you for your reply. That's amazing and really reassuring to hear - can only wish the same for myself!

Have a lovely bank holiday weekend,

    Lis
