DCIS - clear margins

Hi, 

had DCIS high grade, 1.6cm removed with lumpectomy. Waiting for results, there is just 1 cm between this and my nipple. Agreed to save nipple but just wondered if anyone has had to have second op to remove nipple and what your experience was? 
how often have people been called back as haven't got clear margins?

    A very warm welcome to our forum.

    I am glad to hear that your lumpectomy is now behind you and I hope that you are healing well. I am not a doctor, but I understand that about 25% of people have to have another operation, as they haven't achieved clear margins.

    However, I sincerely hope that you won't be one of these people. Have you got a date for your histology results yet?
