Cold cap fine hair

Hi everyone.

I have been reading up on some on the chats regarding  cold caps.

I was doignosed with  invasive breast cancer Feb 2023, I had the 17mm lump removed, along with  20 lymph nodes (4 of which tested positive.)

I'll  be starting chemotherapy in the next few weeks and the cold cap is something I definitely want try, but as  my hair is already quite fine (just how my hair is, nothing medical) and it's a short style (pixie cut) would it  be worth it,as I know hair still does fall out using the cap.Or does my hair  being fine not make any difference to someone who has very thick hair?

Thank you

  • I have lots of fine hair and kept a lot of it using a cold cap.  My regrowth is also very good and I believe the Paxman helps with regrowth aswell. The Paxman website has lots of information on it to help you decide. There is also a Paxman Facebook group which I found very supportive and useful.  Good luck .

  • Hi Angelak

I used the cold cap back in 21 when I had 6 cycles of FEC T and it was the best thing I ever did. Prob kept about 60 to 70 % of my hair. I would advise everyone to try it. Make sure the cap is very well fitted , especially to the crown. Take a couple of paracetamol half hour before u go , wrap a warm scarf round ur neck and sip hot drinks throughout. The first 15 mins are the worst but once ur through that ur head just goes numb. Good luck , sending u lots of positive vibes xx
