Anxious and annoyed

Hi , I am feeling a bit annoyed and anxious.  Having had biopsy three weeks ago five samples taken and then being told I should get results via phone call after ten days. I been chasing them non stop and left a voicemail with the Secretary yesterday but she has not called back. I am aware there was an mdt  meeting on Tuesday ... my gp has got no results nor was he aware that I had a biopsy at the beginning of March.  I just feel so frustrated now , how long does it take for results actually to get back and for people to tell you about the actual result ?  Why do people tell you one thing and then another person tells you something different ? It's so frustrating I just want to know now so I know what am dealing with.

  • Hello Starfish32

I'm sorry to hear that you're still waiting for biopsy results. We know that for many people this period of waiting and uncertainty can be very difficult. It's understandable that you're feeling frustrated.

As you've not been able to get in touch with the secretary to get some clarification on when you will hear some news I'd suggest getting in touch with the hospital PALS team. It's their role to help resolve concerns or problems when you're using the NHS.

I do hope that you have some news soon.

    Best wishes,

I wrote a complaint last week to the hospital. I spoke to the clinical director surgeon today he apologised for the poor care and service given.  And said it's benign fibroadenomas , if becomes painful or keeps growing then there is the option to remove it at some point.   He said it should not have happened that I was not told about the results they had then since 25 th March and has spoken to the consultant and other staff and said that they will aim for two weeks usually but because they are short staffed  they just forgot about my results.  I told him should not happen and he said he was very sorry. I asked for copy of my biopsy results and they will also send me a letter of apology.  Just wanted to put it out there it's been an awful expierence waiting and also I still can't get my head around how the benign growth is not removed at the moment.  It worry's me having a benign tumour but glad it's not cancer.
