Mum newly diagnosed with oral cancer which has spread

Hi, My mum has just been diagnosed with oral cancer which has spread to her her neck. She is to undergo a very big operation followed by radiotherapy and i just wanted to chat with other members that are being supportive to family members having to go through cancer treatment and the support they are offering.

I'm trying to be postive and strong for my mum but I'm struggling emotionally myself.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

  • I have only just joined this forum and perhaps the delay in replying is too long. 12 years ago I had part of my tongue removed and a partial neck dissection to remove lymph nodes a couple of which were problematic so I had 4 weeks of RT. If you or your mum would like to ask me anything please feel free. The bottom line is that I am still here and lead a normal life albeit with some minor speech issues and swallowing difficulties.
