So worried

My mum who's 60 was diagnosed with breast cancer around 6 weeks ago. Invasive ducal carcinoma, 10mm lump in her breast with lymph node involvement, they know it's 2 lymph nodes so far. They are doing a lumpectomy and all under arm lymph node removal this week.

Im so worried. My Mum is everything to our family and I can't bare thinking about what she's going through and I'm so worried for her.

I guess I'm writing on here because there is no one else to talk to

  • Hi Jal. Just writing to say hello. My husbands diagnosis is to be confirmed Friday. I'm so anxious and feel so isolated I can barely write, so unfortunately not much use other than to wish you and your mother well.

    Hi Jal,

A very warm welcome to our forum.

Try not to think so much of what your mum is going through, but how you can support her through her cancer journey. She will get through this, but it will take time to get all of her treatment behind her.

Treatments have improved so much in recent years. I lost my own mum to secondary breast cancer and have had 2 bouts of breast cancer myself. I had my first bout 13 years ago and the second one the following year. I was the same age as your mum when I was diagnosed. That was 13 years ago and I still lead a busy and fulfilling life. I'm sure that your mum will to.

Please keep in touch and let us know how  you are both getting on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

[@laraj]‍ im glad you had a quick recovery. Did you have lymph node involvement?

  • Hi Jal

I had lunpectomy and sentil node first operation when results came back I had a teeny trace in one so therefore had the next operation which was full node clearance they removed 30 nodes , those come back clear , mine was her2 - is this what your mums is ? After this I went in to get the Oncotype DX test which I highly recommend this come back no chemo required due to low score went on to radiotherapy I'm now back to Lara as I was before all this sprung back x

I'm here anything you want to ask I'm 48 I have one son I no the worry , I had these operations recovery is very quick the only thing that drove me mad was not being able to drive , you mun will probably have a drain attached when she arrives home which sounds bad but it's quite straightforward it's attached to drain for 7 to 10 days , the district nurse used to call daily to empty this for me or you can choose to do this yourself , I used to put my dress on over the drain and off out to lunch it never stopped me doing anything.

your mum is going to ok please message me if I can help in anyway I'm akways here for you .

    Love Lara ️
