Heading for Laparotomy this week

Hey,

I am booked for my laparotomy this week - they'll be assessing all my pelvic and abdominal organs and removing my ovary which has been housing my immature teratoma for god knows how long (won't be missed!) - facing a potential hysterectomy at 30 too which is scary but I've agreed! Anyone have any words of wisdom or had this type of surgery? Just looking for tips on recovery, information on your recovery, anything at all to make me feel a bit better - im excited for the surgery but then comes the wait for biopsy to determine if I need chemo so I'll be back in limbo again for a few weeks!

Thanks for reading xx

  • Hi Catherine,

I noticed you're due to have your surgery this week so I just wanted to wish you good luck and share some information we have about the laparotomy.

Hopefully some of our members who have had this surgery will be along soon to share their experiences and advice but if you'd like to discuss any of this with one of our cancer nurses, they're available on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m. They're very knowledgeable and will do all they can to help.

Keep us posted on your progress when you can Catherine. We're thinking of you and have our fingers crossed for a good outcome.

    Kind regards,

    Steph, Cancer Chat Moderator
