Prostate cancer need advice

Husband has been on active surveillance since March last year had mri last July then another 3 weeks ago they have noticed the 2 lesions on his prostate have grown sine the last mri , his psa is 4.5 now he's diabetic type 2 and they won't do a biopsy until his blood sugar is under 60 now it was 98 last October the in January it was 72 they agreed to do the biopsy on Sunday but just had the call to say no we need it lower our worry is what are his risks having to wait again as the consultant said he needs this biopsy as a matter of urgency and he has to have a general anaesthetic

my question is why can't they give him a local anaesthetic

we have tried asking for help but they never return our calls

  • Hello Dollypops and thank you for posting.

I'm sorry to hear about your husband's situation and that the consultant is not returning your calls.

While I can't tell why they're not giving him a local anaesthetic it might be a good idea to phone our team of nurses, explain your situation and ask if they can advise. They're available Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m on this freephone 0808 800 4040.

I hope this helps a little.

Best wishes to you and your husband,
