Hi there
Seen your post since it went up and keep wishing someone will answer you as i can't cope with you just being left there wondering but in all honesty I don't think anybody can answer your question really. Most people here are patients rather than medical people and even the nurses would need to have access to your medical records to answer your question.
There are treatments to prolong life i believe even in the case of stage 4.
I also have lung cancer but not with liver and skull.
Has your team discussed any treatment options thst might be available to you?
Keep positive
Hi thank you so much for getting back to me, it's all happened so fast my head is spinning, In 2 weeks I've had a doctors appointment, 2 scans and go in for a lung biopsy tomorrow, I was panicking I should know nobody will know the answer, can't sleep even with sleeping tablets, I'm sorry, good luck with this awful disease, thanks again for your reply xx
Hi again
Yes it's a whirlwind of tests in the beginning so they can find out what type it is and hopefully can match a treatment to it.
It's mad on the mind in general let alone at the start, at any point you need a shoulder........i have 2 you can lean on, feel free to message me anytime, i'll always answer even if it takes a few hours.
My situation is different as i don't have the liver and skull but i can offer words of lungs getting removed, chemo, immunotherapy if they can offer you any of that. I'm no expert and have no medical knowledge but understand as someone going through it and also from another point of view, my husband of 30 years died of cancer 12 years ago.
Keep positive and strong.
Xxx
Hi
thank you I'm sorry about your husband that must of been unbearable for you, I hope your treatment works for you, you are a lovely person again thank you
xx
Hello,
I received a breast cancer diagnosis on Friday (I'm a little younger than you) and I just wanted to let you know that you are not alone. I have been encouraged by well-known people who have documented their treatment/progress. Rhod Gilbert and Merlin (the bar tender from First Dates) are both going through treatment for cancer at the moment. I hope you get treatment started soon. Best wishes.
Hi
So sorry to hear of your diagnosis.
My wife is in a similar position to you - she's 53 and has literally just been diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer - we were initially told it was just in one lung but seemingly it has spread to the other one and lymph nodes as well. We've had no indication of how long someone can live with this and I presume it's different for every person.
Our journey so far has been a blood test and CT scan (for something completely unrelated) which found the suspicious mass (3 cm in her right lung). She was then referred to the respiratory consultant who arranged for biopsies to be taken along with a second CT scan to see if it was in her abdomen (it wasn't). The results took a week to come back and he confimed that she had stage 4 cancer (T4 N3 M0) - it is non small cell lung cancer.
From there, the biopsies have gone to be tested - we were told there were 7 different tests done and these will determine what treatments are available. We actually go to see the Oncologist tomorrow and I understand the results are now back.
It's been a truly awful 4 weeks so far so we are hoping that there is something that can be done for her as she is otherwise in really good health - has never smoked, doesn't really drink, eats healthily and has had no side effects - her case was an incidental finding over something complely unrelated.
We are hoping for some positive news tomorrow as it's all been doom and gloom so far and it seems that every news headline I read is about someone with cancer in awful circumstances - I'm hoping that these are just the bad stories and that it might be possible to live a realtively normal life for a sustained period under treatment.
Like everyone else has said, we are trying to stay as positive as we can and want to fight it with whatever help we are offered.
Hi
thank you
i am so sorry to hear about your wife, I am laid in my hospital bed as I write this I have just had lung biopsy so will be a week or 2 before I get the type and what treatment I'll have, yes i totally agree with you about the tv every advert is either funerals, life insurance or macmillan, I know it does seem the right thing to say but thank god she did what ever she did to get the X-ray in the first place, positive thoughts for tomorrow, it all happens so quick but takes forever if you know what I mean, I have a bit of brain fog and can't think straight at minute, I hope you get some positive news tomorrow,
x
Sorry only just seen this, oh bless you, good luck with your fight and thank you for your kind words xx
Thank you - I waited just under two weeks for the biopsy results (what a two weeks that was!!) but now they have all the information they need to target the treatment. We're in good hands at least. Hope you're not too sore after the biopsy.
