Hello - I've been stalking the forum for a few weeks now ever since my husband visited his GP with a swollen lymph node. She said she wasn't worried but referred for an ultra sound and also took bloods. At the sonographer appointment she too said she wasn't worried but suggested he be referred to the neck clinic. His GP then rang him to say that his blood had come back with high lymphocyte counts and that haematology had asked to see him, but it wasnt an urgent appointment. Then he went to the neck clinic, was examined and recommended a biopsy on the lump. The haematology appointment was this morning with the biopsy afterwards . They took more bloods this morning and we were seen by a doctor. She wasn't rude, but she was abrupt. She said she didn't understand why he had been referred for the biopsy because looking at his bloods it was pretty obvious that the cause was CLL she cancelled the biopsy.. Because I've been googling everything I knew what this was - my husband was oblivious. She said that the bloods would be sent on to the lab now but she was 'fairly certain' it was CLL. Having done all the googling I asked if given the fact my husband isn't ill and that his only symptom is the swollen lymph node if he would be on 'watch and wait'. She said yes and talked about people living for decades. We go back for this final result in 3 weeks. My husband, who is 53 is a very positive person naturally and just seems relieved he is not, and I quote 'dying any time soon'. I'm just quite surprised that we were given this news without any context. Had I.not spent the last 4 weeks googling everything then I'd be totally lost. Thank you to everyone who has read this far. I know it's not really bad news but I'm in shock I think
