Just got the news

Sooo... thought I'd start a new thread. Doc said it's a 2cm lump that's breast cancer and it's spread to the lymph in my arm. Waiting for CT scan. Feeling oddly calm. Going to work tomorrow. Asked doc if it's ok and they said yes so that'll help. Any meditation, books, whatever spiritual that helps? I find it calming so any suggestions welcome. Also any advice on healthy eating -I'm vegan and a bit worried about that bit- also welcome.

Generally feeling odd. Haven't eaten properly in weeks and today I just grabbed a pizza and a burger for dinner.

  • Thanks Jenn. The info is very useful. I read up on the link you send :) And somehow comforting knowing I'm not alone. The CT scan is scheduled in good time. Not sure if I'm lucky or the hospitals work well in these cases but at least on that count I'm not stressed about delays.

My only issue -the kind that I maybe can do something about- is that I've lost almost 10 pounds in the last two weeks cause I can't eat. Hope that will get settled after a while.

  • Hi [@Brian1977]‍

I hope you are doing ok. I was wondering if you would share your CT results please? x

  • Hey, so what I kinda figured is you have a relative with lymph node spread? Mostly on the Macmillan forums nowadays so haven't updated here. I'll just list where it went.

    - CT came clear -as far as they can tell. Was send to biopsy/check 2 additional sites (a shadow on the breast and a cyst in an ovary) both shadow and cyst disappeared before the test.

    - Was send for bone scan, came clear as far as they can see.

    - Lymph node wise the biopsy tissue was necrotic (they assumed it meant that the cancer grew in the area fast) had 3 more biopsies in the area.

    - Given the lymph node spread I was put on chemo before surgery, to prevent any possible metastasis that they might have missed and to save any lymph nodes that they can.

    - Currently on chemo cycle 2. Doing pretty well. Took one week off. Was working last week with no problems. Took another week of to rest after this weeks chemo but generally feeling good.

    Best of luck

  • Thank you for responding and I hope the rest of your journey goes well for you.

My mum has breast cancer so I've been scrolling through some threads for good news/positive outcomes etc

  • Hi Jal,

are you ok? Has your mum had all her test done?
    I can imagine your worried.

    xx

  • She's had a lumpectomy and some lymph nodes removed but they weren't happy and told her she could either go back to get some more tissue taken out or a mastectomy. She's going for a mastectomy tomorrow and had a CT scan today

  • Thank you and hope all goes well for your mom too. Things have got much better for me now, waiting for the CT was one of the toughest times. Moving forward with the treatment I feel much better mentally and quite hopeful. It's great that your mom has you to support her. Can't stress how important that's been to me. Really makes a difference.

Take care and best wishes for your mom.

  • I was diagnosed with Invasive Ductal Carcinoma in Oct 2021, Her2- Oestrogen Positive. Stage1 grade3. I'm 38 and what my GP thought was a cyst certainly wasn't. I have two sons who I didn't tell as my Father in law and my dad had just passed away from Cancer.

I had a Lumpectomy but went back again to get clear Margins, I had 3 lymph nodes removed At surgery which were clear.

I had 6 rounds of chemo and radiotherapy and I now have hormone tablets to block my oestrogen.

Treatment is so advanced, although chemo was tough it was very Do-able. The CT will help the doctors give your Mum the Very best treatment.

i hope her operation goes well today, I'm sure it will. There is light at the end of the tunnel. She must be very proud of you.

    love Sarah
