Bloods after Orchiectomy - no apppointment after 2.5 weeks

My husband had an orchiectomy 2.5 weeks ago and we havent heard anything from the hospital or doctors about a post op blood marker test.

The paperwork said he should have had one a week post op and possibly more since then(?).

We cant get through to his oncology nurse, reception, or our doctors surgery to find out what is meant to happen.

Do we wait for an appointment or book in for one ourselves (if we can ever get through!)?

Thanks in advance!

  • Hello SJ79

I'm sorry to hear that your husband has recently had surgery. I hope that he's recovering well and has not been experiencing any post-op problems.

It's unfortunate to hear that he's not had the post-op follow-up blood tests that you were expecting. It's understandable that you may be feeling anxious about this.

If you've still not been able to get hold of his oncology nurse then do ring and leave a message with the Consultant secretary or alternatively contact the hospital PALS team who are there to help resolve concerns when using the NHS. You can also keep trying to get through to his GP surgery and ask for their guidance regarding where these follow-up tests need to be arranged.

I hope that you manage to get this sorted and that the results bring positive news for you both.

    Best wishes,
