Having radiotherapy at a different hospital

My husband has been diagnosed with tongue and neck cancer, surgery with radiotherapy to follow. How easy is it to have radiotherapy at a different hospital to the op. My husband is registered at our flat in Dorset as his daughter is at school there and he spends time there so his surgery will be there. My work and our main home and support network and other children are in bucks so it would be impossible to do daily radiotherapy sessions in Dorset. Has anyone else done this?

we have our planning meeting in a week but was hoping for others experiences as well.

  • Hi Josiejog,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I can understand this is a tricky situation - you will of course be able to get some clarity and advice on this at your next appointment, but in the meantime hopefully you'll get some more replies on here.

If you'd like to talk things through with one of our nurses, you are welcome to give them a call. You can reach them on 0808 800 4040 (Monday-Friday, 9-5).

    Wishing you all the best,
