I am sorry to hear this. I must state that I am not a doctor and these are solely my own thoughts.  Did you have a biopsy prior to diagnosis. This can sometimes leave the breast a little tender and swollen to feel. You could also have a slight infection.

Once we are aware of anything amiss in our breasts, we also tend to keep feeling and comparing them and this can cause some changes too. Try to leave them alone, until you attend the clinic on Wednesday, but mention this then.
