FIBROIDS

Hi all,

Posting this in hope that someone may be able to share similar experiences and advice,

Im currently undergoing treatment for fibroids. A couple of months ago i was diagnosed with mutliple fibroids, the biggest being 10cm which was apparently at the back wall of my Uterus. The best option i was given was Hysterectomy, because of my symptons and having a blood clotting disorder it meant my options were even less. I'm currently on the GNRH injection (second month in, for 3 months).

Before i started the treatment, by symptoms were really severe. Heavy menstrual bleeding, constipation, bloating, a heavy dull aching pain in my pelvis, to the much that i couldnt sit down without it hurting. The GNRH injections have helped stop the periods, but one thing that just won't budge is the hip pain. Its horrific, i can't sleep or even walk properly still. I feel like im 100 years old, and I've only just turned 39!

It doesn't look like i'll be able ot have a family of my own at this point unfortunately.

Has anyone else experienced similar symptons on the GNRH injections? My hip pain is like a dull ache, sharp stabbing pain. I'm assuming its the fibroid that is pressing into one of the nerves, but i would have thought that the GNRH would reduce this sympton amongst the others?

Any help would be appreciated. Thankyou :-) xx

I'm sorry to hear that you've recently been diagnosed with fibroids and you're now having hormone injections ahead of your surgery. It's good to hear that they have reduced some of your symptoms and hopefully this will make the planned surgery easier.

As most people who have GNRH injections are usually having some other kind of additional treatment for cancer it's difficult to say if anyone has had hip pain that they've been able to attribute to the injections alone. It's certainly worth talking to your GP or the clinical team about the pain you're experiencing as it may be something other than the fibroids that are responsible for the problem.

I do hope that things improve for you soon and send best wishes for your surgery and recovery.
