Still not moved forward - mum's still having tests

We found out mum had cancer 2nd November , started this journey in July when she started to go for tests. So on the 2nd they said she had cancer in the lungs and in a couple of lymph glands but they need to find where it started. She has had a biopsy that goes down the throat, that came up with no results found. She had the needle in the neck biopsy where they hadn't took enough of a sample and she's had another needle in the neck one. Why can they just not start giving her some kind of treatment, all this waiting around is surely making her worse especially with it in the lungs

  • Hi LooLoo90

I'm just scanning the questions on here and came across yours. I'm sorry to hear you are having to wait such a long time for news of when your mum's treatment can start. It must seem like an eternity. Whilst I am not in a position to give you any answers, I just want you to know that you are in my thoughts and prayers and I hope it can all be resolved very soon so that 2023 turns out to be a good year for your mum and you.

I have breast cancer and I'm having chemo at the moment. The five week wait from diagnosis to start of treatment was hard, so I really feel for you.

    Take care and God bless

    Hi Looloo,

I am so sorry to hear that you mum is still waiting for a conclusive diagnosis, after all this time. It can be very frustrating, when results are inconclusive and you feel that valuable treatment time is being wasted.  I am not a doctor, so I may be wrong, but i don't believe that his is really the case. Her care team need a definite diagnosis, before they can decide upon the most effective treatment for her.

There are different types and grades of the disease and it is important that the causative one is identified, so that a treatment targeting that particular type can be used.

I sincerely hope that they can move forward with treatment soon. Have they told you when the results of her latest biopsy should be due back?

Please keep in touch and let us know how she gets on. We are always here for both of you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
