I'm so very sorry to hear about your husband's recent diagnosis. It's understandably a difficult time for you all but it's good to hear that he's recovering well from surgery and that otherwise, he's fit and well. Hopefully this will stand him in good stead for the future. 

Oligodendroglioma is a rare type of brain tumour and we have some information on our website that you may find helpful. I'm not aware of any members here who have the same diagnosis but hopefully if someone does have experience they will reply to your post. In the meantime, I wanted to give you this link to The Brain Tumour Charity. They are a great charity with lots of brain tumour specific support available and hopefully you'll be able to connect with others who have this diagnosis through their website. 

Our nurse helpline is now closed until Wednesday 28th when they'll be available again from 9 am on 0808 800 4040. If you need to talk to someone over the festive period then the Macmillan support line is open from 8 am to 8 pm every day.

sorry to hear about your husbands diagnosis. I remember what those early days are like and they are very scary and unknown. My husband was diagnosed with a grade 2/3 oligodendrglioma at the age of 28 back in September 2020. He had surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy which lasted a year. He finished treatment in July 2021 and is on 6 monthly scans which have been clear! He was able to continue to go to the gym and work during his radio and chemo which was amazing. He also has the genetic mutation which in my understanding means it reacts better to treatment and has a better prognosis.
 

Getting a brain tumour diagnosis is totally terrifying and as the partner you feel like you have to be the strong one but it takes such a toll on yourself as well. The unknown of prognosis and chances of the tumour returning are really hard to deal with and I'm still struggling to come to terms with it (I don't think you ever can tbh). I feel very lucky that my husband has been so well throughout his treatment and after and we can have a normal life in between his scans.

so my husband is now into finishing week 4/6 of radio. 
 

he walks 4/5 mile each day and is commuting himself via the train to his appointments 

he will go onto have chemo around April time 

i am back at work, i work for a head and neck cancer consultant ironically, enjoying being back,

Hi Helen,

that's great he has been able to keep that up, my husband was waiting on the fatigue that we had been warned about but he never experienced that which was great. His biggest thing was losing his driving license which he got back earlier this year, you don't realise how much independence it takes away! I hope the rest of the radio goes well along with the chemo. Well done to you going back to work already, I stayed off til he started chemo as I was driving him to radio everyday. Though it's nice to distract yourself!

He's got 10 sessions left 

he's a little tired today so he will grab a hour then be fine :) 

I offered to stop off wit him but he wanted a bit of independence getting to and from there himself, his dad or a bus is on hand if he feels unwell. 
I'm glad your hubby finally got his licence back he hates not being able to drive. Hopefully get it back next year some time..
