Blood in my poo

I had a colonoscopy and was told I might have cancer. Last week I had pet scan and am waiting for results. In the meantime, for the past four days i noticed having blood in my poo. Please help me with a advise. Thanks

  • Hi dorianitaly,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I'm sorry to hear of your worries, I can understand this must be difficult and I know the uncertainty and waiting for results is never easy.

If you have concerns about any new symptoms, the best thing will be to speak to your doctor, so do give them a call when you are next able to. Otherwise, I hope it's not too long to wait for your results. Hopefully you'll also receive some more replies from others on the forum soon.

    Wishing you all the best,

  • You are going through the worst time atm. The wait is terrible, in fact its agonising. When all your tests are back they will then tell you how about your treatment. Don't whatever you do go on Google. I had a meltdown one day and found out from dr Google i had 3 months to live. I am recovering now after my operation and had a 6cm tumour removed. They caught it early with no spread. Having BC is something no one wants to hear but it is treatable.

I truly hope everything works out for you.

    Xx

  • I think a colonoscopy can cause blood in poo, especially if you had a biopsy or any polyps removed? If the colonoscopy was recent, that is probably pretty normal. I remember it being mentioned as a possible side effect after I had a colonoscopy, and I didn't have any biopsies or polyps to remove.

Blood in poo, of course, can also be a symptom of bowel cancer or of polyps or of a whole host of other things - hemorrhoids, a fissure, diverticulitis, IBD... But if it started shortly after the colonoscopy, that seems like it might be the most likely explanation?

Hope you get positive news from your scans.
