Worried about a change in my breast

I am after some advice and reassurance please,I have noticed a change in my right breast over the past 2 days, however this evening I'm getting increasingly anxious,it seems to have got bigger and the lump is higher,more solid,hot than the rest of my body, I've been through my folder for advice and nothing, called helplines, but are closed, final last step was 111, and I'm waiting for a doctor to call me,I would just like to know if this is normal, my opp is on the 5th of January, which is good, can anyone help with some advice please, many thanks Lindsay xx

    I'm sorry to hear that you've had some concerns about changes in your breast ahead of your surgery. 

    You did the right thing in calling 111 for advice and I hope someone called you back and was able to offer some reassurance. Don't be worried about calling them again if you're concerned over the weekend and bank holidays. 

    Hopefully someone from your breast care team will be back in the office on Wednesday so if things remain the same give them a quick call just to let them know. 

    I hope things settle and you're able to enjoy the festive break ahead of your surgery.

    I have a corse of antibiotics, as they think it may be an infection, fingers crossed that's all it is,thank you so much for your reply, I do feel less anxious and hoping for a lovely Christmas with my children and family, sending best wishes for a lovely Christmas too you too xx

    Hi Lindz,

    I am so sorry that this had to worry you in the run up to Chrustmas. I am glad to hear that you have phoned 111 and got some antibiotics. I am not a doctor, but I would expect heat and swelling to indicate a possible infection.

    Do you have any further appointments at the hospital, prior to 5th January? If not, it might be worth phoning your breast care nurse, as soon as the holidays are over and telling her that this has happened. She may want to check that the infection had gone before they go ahead with your op.

    I hope that all can still go ahead on 5th and that all goes well.

    Awww that is very good advice thank you,I will call my nurse on Wednesday, and let's hope it is just an infection and I've got a hold of it early enough for me to recover and finish the course, I'll keep you posted xx

    Hi Lindz,

    Did you get in touch with your breast care nurse on Wednesday and, if so, how did you get on? I hope that your breast is settling, as the antibiotics start to work.
