Cervical cancer?

Hi,

My first post and its a long one I'm afraid.

I hadn't had a smear for 15 years due to miscarriages/being pregnant and my surgery not allowing prams/pushchairs/unsupervised children.

After finally getting an appointment post covid the nurse told me during the smear I had cancer and that it would be really advanced, 2 weeks later I had a letter to say hpv positive and severe dyskaryosis and I was being referred for urgent colposcopy. (I have no symptoms and never have)

The consultant at the colposcopy was great said he couldn't see any evidence of cancer (although he can't say 100% as some micro cancers can't be seen) and was happy he removed all the abnormal cells with the lletz.

Its been 2 weeks since and no results but 2 entries have appeared in my nhs app (both dated before the colposcopy) 1 says my smear result showed moderate changes, the other saying class 5 severe dyskaryosis and signs of invasion. The dr surgery are saying these means invasive advanced cancer but the colposcopy team are saying they go by their own tests and need to wait for their results.

I dont really know what I'm asking? Has anyone else been through this? Is the best i can hope for is that it was early stage and they got it all with the lletz?

Thanks for reading my ramblings!

  • A warm welcome to the forum Jammiedodgers81 although I'm sorry for the reason you're joining us.

Getting such conflicting information must be very stressful but hopefully it won't be much longer now until your colposcopy results come through and you'll know what you're dealing with.

Our members know stressful this can be so hopefully those who have found themselves in a similar situation will offer their support and advice to you soon but if you'd like to talk things through with one of our nurses, you can contact them on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

They're very knowledgeable in this field so I hope speaking with them will help but in the meantime, we're thinking of you Jammiedodgers and hope everything turns out o.k.

    Kind regards,
