Breast and bowel cancer - waiting for colonoscopy results

Hi,does anyone knows how long is taking to recive the colonoscopy test results?I did the colonoscopy on the 19 November,!Thanks!

  • Welcome to the Cancer Chat community Elena although I'm sorry to hear about your diagnosis and how long you've been waiting for your colonoscopy results.

The length of time can differ depending on what part of the country you're in and how much the pandemic is still affecting the NHS there, but if you're worried, it may be worth getting in touch with your GP surgery to see if they've come through and if they haven't, to find out if your GP can chase this up for you.

Hopefully some of our members will share their experiences and advice with you soon but in the meantime, we're thinking of you Elena and will have our fingers crossed you won't have to wait too much longer for your results.

If you'd like to discuss your diagnosis further with one of our cancer nurses, you can give them a call on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

    Kind regards,

  • I tried to speak with the GP about my test results, and they  said that are slightly better, they refuse to give more details, and I don't know if os ok,because breast cancer is stage 1 confirmed, and bowel cancer is stage 3 confirmed by a CT scan ,and they refuse to tell me the colonoscopy test results, what I should I think when they tell me that are slightly better, is stage 2?or stage 1?   I ok what the GP told me, or he is obligated to tell me what is writing in that report, to give me the entire details? Thanks!

  • I'm sorry your GP is not giving you any more information about your results.

Unfortunately I'm unable to answer these questions, but our nurses may be able to help, so do give them a call on the number I've given you in my previous post.

I'm sorry I can't be of more help but I really hope you're able to find out more soon.

    Kind regards,
