  • Hello rainandsky and a warm welcome to Cancer Chat,

I am so sorry to hear about your father. It must be heartbreaking for you and your family especially as you are a carer and therefore look after him on a daily basis. It's completely understandable that you are feeling this way and that you find yourself scared of what the future holds. All you can do really is try and take a day at a time and be there for your parents during this difficult time but without forgetting to take time for yourself if you can to recharge your batteries.

There is information on our website for Family, friends and caregivers which will give you helpful tips to help you support someone with cancer whilst also finding time to take care of yourself. When times are tough, don't hesitate also to reach out on this forum as many others will understand what you are going through and been in a similar place themselves and there are also organisations that can help like CarersUK

It can be tempting in a situation like this to look things up on Google but it can also be a source of anxiety and stress so try not to do too much online research if you can as Google can give you information that is unreliable and untrustworthy. Feel free though to give our nurses a call at any time on this free number 0808 800 4040  if there is anything you would like to discuss with them - their line is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm.

We're thinking of you during this difficult time and wanted you to know that we are here for you anytime you need to offload.

    Best wishes,
