BCC removal

Hi, new on here and this is my first post . I have just had a biopsy and have a confirmed BCC on my lower lip . I choose to go private as waiting time through NHS is horrendous. I can continue with the removal of the BCC privately or wondered if it would be ok to wait for NHS appointment. Is this something that needs to be done sooner rather than later or is it ok to wait !!!!! Thanks

  • Hello Spenny and a big welcome to Cancer Chat,

It's a difficult decision to have to make and perhaps it would be a good idea to discuss your options with your doctor or specialist. You could ask how long it would take to have the appointment with the NHS and whether it is ok to wait or it's best to act quickly. There is information on our website too comparing NHS with private cancer treatment.

Our nurses are also available on this free number 0808 800 4040 if would like to talk things through with them  - their line is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm.

Hopefully you will hear from others who have had BCC removal before and they will be along shortly to share their experience with you and give you some guidance based on their personal experience.

    Best wishes,
