I had complex ovarian cysts and the oncology gynaecologist gave me the choice of removing them as they can be precancerous. l chose to have the operation just as well as they took 4 1/2 hrs removing extensive adhesions on the left side where l had pain and it's now improved 

Do discuss your feelings with the surgeon when you see them so they can explain the full situation with you.

I completely understand how you feel.  When you receive a cancer diagnosis it's so frightening and shocking.  You expect you'll have surgery and then radiotherapy or chemotherapy and a lot of treatment, but that's not always the case.  Sometimes if cancer is found very early they can feel they are over treating you when surgery alone is all that is needed.  A lot depends on the staging and grading.

I felt exactly like this earlier this year when I was diagnosed with an early and small invasive breast cancer.  I had a mastectomy and was sent on my merry way with Tamoxifen, absolutely no further treatment needed apart from regular check ups.  This was unbelievable to me as your natural reaction is to want to throw everything at it.  I was told it wasn't needed, to feel relieved and happy and to get on with my life.  Well easier said than done after going through that, but in time I felt better about things.  
 

I'm sure your team will do the very best for you.  Your situation will be discussed at their weekly multidisciplinary meeting and they will come up with a plan for you.  If only surgery is needed you can hopefully feel very relieved that it's been found early.  Thank goodness.
