Cervical CIN-3 and LLETZ surgery worries

Hi everyone, hope you are all well.

I am new to this and really need some advice!

So background history - I had my first smear 3 years ago and came back all normal. This year went into my second smear (age 28) and it came back that they found HPV and low grade cell changes and was booked into a colposcopy. During my colposcopy I had a biopsy and just recieved my results back that I actually have CIN-3 and have been booked in 5 days time for the loop procedure (LLETZ I think its called?)

I suffer with really bad anxiety which I am on meds for, and honestly I did not cope well with the colposcopy. I was shaking and so panicked I couldn't sit still for the consultant. I know everyone's pain threshold is different but if anyone could share their experiences with this procedure, how to prepare and what to expect id be so grateful. I know I sound childish but I'd much rather be put under general than a local. The thought of having a needle there makes me even more nervous

I'm really worried this is going to turn into cancer, or the procedure may not work.

Thanks so much for reading x

  • Hi Ziggy5093,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I'm sorry you haven't received a reply up to now - I see it's not too long now until your appointment.

We have some information on our website about the LLETZ procedure, which may be helpful to have a look through.

Make sure to discuss your concerns at your appointment so they can take this into account.

Hopefully you'll receive more replies here soon if others have similar experience. You can also browse or search (using the button in the blue bar above) the forum for other relevant discussions.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
