Are heavy legs a sign of cancer?

My 77 year old mum (fit and healthy until a few months ago) was diagnosed last week with stage 4 colon and secondary liver cancer. She is in hospital today having a biopsy and we meet oncologist next week for treatment plan.

Mum tried for months to see her GP with heavy legs, leg cramp, tiredness but he flatly refused to give her a face to face appointment. She had a clear FIT test on 24 May so no sign of bowel cancer and a blood test in Aug said borderline anemia and low vit D - but nothing was done about it - "no action needed"

4th sept she was sick in the night and then some bouts of diorherra and not eating and here we are now - palliative care and facing the end of her life.

I realise she didn't ahve the typical symptons of bowel cancer but wondering if anyone else had these heavy legs and cramps or nerve pain etc?

  • A very warm welcome to the Cancer Chat forum JaspBud although I'm really sorry to hear about your mum.

I can't begin to imagine how you both must be feeling at the moment but our community are here for you and I'm sure some of our members who have been in similar situations with their loved ones will be along soon to offer you their support and advice.

If you'd like to speak with one of our cancer nurses about the symptoms your mum experienced before she was diagnosed, they'll be available next week on 0808 800 4040 between 9a.m - 5p.m.

We're thinking of you JaspBud and wishing your mum all the best for next week.

    Kind regards,
