Diagnosed by ultrasound

Hi

I'm just curious to know if anyone else has been diagnosed with breast cancer at their appointment by diagnostic mammogram and ultrasound?

I also had a biopsy but I am awaiting the results but the radiologist was confident I have breast cancer.

so, now the wait for my histology results and according to the radiologist the decision of the MDT.

Has anyone else had a similar experience?

  • Thank you

i am off to my appointment this Friday, this site has been amazing.

Friday cannot come quick enough, I'm working a 9-2 shift before my appointment and everyone thinks I'm mad!!

    I think it's a distraction!!

I'll be back after Friday, lots of love and wishing you the best xxxx

  • Hey Sausage,

I have to say I love the name sausage

Firstly, that's great news that you have a date for surgery, good luck and I wish you a speedy recovery my darling

I have now got my head round the fact that I am going to be told I have breast cancer this Friday and I'm fine with that I just need to know what stage, type and the plan now, talk about being inpatient

This site is amazing as are all you of you on here, I'll be back after my results.

Much love to you, stay strong and kick this little sh*ts butt xx

well done , I worked right through diagnosis ops the lot I have found it a massive distraction I have coped you will too xx I worked from home until 3 weeks ago but only had  like 6 days in total off while I was having operations done work in hospital bed lol

  • Good on you Dolly

I agree with you that time is of the essence.

So far all I have told by the breast surgeon is the type of this new cancer I have and proposed plan by the surgeon which is surgery and radiotherapy.

    Surgery next month.

I have not been told the stage.

I have complicated matters somewhat in that the oncologist this year has made a massive mistake.

Last year ( my first surgery was late November last year) I was not told the stage. All I was told was the grade of the cancer plus a letter from the oncologist indicating I had very low risk cancer( mentioned twice it was low grade) because I told GP on several ocassions I was exhausted and becoming breathless with a cough that was not imoriving and wondered if my cancer had mestatised and wanted referred for an oncogene DX test that I would have had to pay £3000 myself!

Sadly I have been proved correct.Too late for an oncogene DX test too.

I have requested I be given another oncologist that I wish to speak with face to face for this new cancer as I have no trust in the one I had.

To expedite matters I have indicated to both GP surgery and surgeon I wish to draw a line over what happened this July ( the letter dismissing my concerns that the cancer had spread) and get on with treatment as soon as possible before it reaches the critical point and spread to other major organs.

Its not me being nice but me being pragmatic as what's happened has happened I we all must try to turn this new diagnosis on its head.

  • That's amazing Laraj :-)

I intend to carry on working as much as I can, I am a nurse, a bit of a nutty nurse in a good way, not in the way as the one in the media at the moment!!
Thankfully, I work in primary care so there is an option for me to work from home triaging maybe, if I have to, not my favourite option as I much prefer face to face.

My employers are being very supportive so I am very lucky.

Right I'm off to do a 10 hour shift :-) lol

lots of love to all of you out there, big squidgy hugs and stay strong xxxx

  • Last year in November I had just one node removed and it was clear.

Surgery next month a year later for new tumour I will have 5 nodes removed.

I am going to get ready and dressed now so I will be back online at the end of the day as need to get going.

  • Have a good day all speak later eye test this morning xx

  • Hi Sausage1

    Well

My appointment today was cancelled as the consultant was called away to emergency theatres, which can't be helped I know.

The breast care nurse couldn't tell me anything without me seeing the consultant first and advised me to call my GP to ask if they would give me my histology results.

They did, but they weren't very happy being asked to do this but understood that having to wait till Monday to know whether the radiologist could have possibly got it wrong!!
Unfortunately he did not,  I have IDC and that's as much as I know for now, until my rescheduled appointment on Monday at 9.

At least I know now, and can add to my list of questions ready for Monday.

Thinking of you, sending hugs xxx

  • Dolly

How did you get on today ? X

  • Ok Dolly 68

    Your hunch was correct.

As I used to say to my patients......you don't need to be a doctor to tell you when you are ill!

The GP would not have been happy as GPs are generally Jack of all trades and master of none.

GP would have given you the news you have cancerous growth in your breast so this will soften the blow somewhat ( so the theory goes) when given diagnosis by the consultant.

I tell you that theory went haywire in my case as last year when told by the consultant I had breast cancer I burst out crying.

We all cope in different ways it seems.

Good luck to you and take it as it comes as nothing else for it.
