Womb Cancer

I have been diagnosed with womb Cancer a week and one day ago but I just want to shut it out

  • Hi Wilma

I had a total hysterectomy on the 1st August as diagnosed with stage 3 C endometrial cancer. The robotic surgery went amazing and i recovered very well. I have just started 5 weeks of radiotherapy and to be honest that scares me more than the surgery as you dont know how your body will react. It terrfies me! As i have a cancerous para aortic lymph node still in situ my options regarding consenting for treatment was very clear even though i truly didnt want radiotherapy. You can get through this as i can with help and support. There is always someone to talk to  please just reach out.

  • Hi Wilma08, sorry to hear your news and that of your family.   I am very lucky that all my treatment has been covered by BUPA.   I had my first appointment on 26 July, hysteroscopy on 12 August, surgery on 30 September and first chemo on 2 November.   I had stage 1A endometrial cancer which would have needed no other treatment than surgery but unfortunately it is a serous cancer which is very aggressive so 6 sessions of chemo needed to make absolutely sure its all gone;  my oncologist would have prescribed some radiotherapy too but I had another cancer a few years ago and can't have any more pelvic radiation.  The chemo should get any strays though.   Regarding my mental state I think I have repressed all my emotions very successfully for the time being, my husband is also having treatment for cancer so it is a real *** show here, we are both having to keep a lid on it.   Probably not a healthy way to be but.....   keep me posted on your health xx

  • So your only a year younger than myself, as for Alysha we only have the one daughter and she's an only but not lonely she's hopefully ( her feeling not mine but she has to live her life like we did and our parents and there parents) moving down to Southampton in the new year to live with her boyfriend it's been long distance for nearly 2 years intact so much more they were friends first who met through her university friends it must be over 700 hundred miles away from Scotland,

Like yourself I was unwell with gastrointerities and had to go to A&E due to my diabetes the next day I spoke to a consultant as they were thinking of keeping me in but no beds were available, I had mentioned to him about me starting to bleed after 14 /15 yes and he advised me to go back to my GP as this was definitely not due to the gastrointestinal issue which I did and waited about 20 days for my appointment had a internal scan and the radiologist said she was putting my scan through as urgent as my womb lining was 27mm instead of 4or5 she also asked about change of life and any symptoms but I was only aware of a few really heavy bleeds that caused me to put bin liners on my car and setee seats as I had Hemorrhage a good few times and the GP said not to worry sometimes it happens so that must have been the start of the change I must have been about 42 nearly ten years after my miscarriage so actually just shows time flies, so about 2 or 3vweeks later I get the gynaecologist appointment but it never said anything about a biopsy on the day of the appointment so surprise surprise but he was unable to get a sample as my cervix tilts back so another 2 weeks later I get another appointment for the camera thing ( I was told I would have a general anaesthetic but surprise I walk into the room and met the Dr who explained everything so get ma drawers off legs up and here I am after phoning the receptionist three weeks later feeling god knows today to be honest.

So yesterday i bit the bullet and went to the GP as i have been having pain for the best part of 6mths  from my neck and shoulder but i wasn't sure if it was all off my neck as i 3 degenerative discs there but i have also had two frozen shoulder's about 2 years ago so today back at GP getting steroid injection into my shoulder hope it's my shoulders and i get relief from pain.

I really don't know what will happen as the Doctor said i might have too much scareing for an operation plus my health but the weirdist thing my BP and heart ️ rate and sugar levels are all great she mentioned a coil for 5 years but that was before the diagnosis so definitely no to that one as i don't want 5 years of stress wondering if nosy Rosie has spread or whatever she does i just want it all dug out and away end of conversation. So that's my great adventure into my Rosie (cancer) Storie apart from my sister passing away a few years ago after living breast cancer for about 15 years then my aunty either ovarian or womb cancer then my uncle with bowel about 30 plus years ago and my dad's sister breast cancer 40 or maybe 50 yes ago not forgetting my husband's brother with mouth and throat cancer for the last 3 or 4 years ooops i forgot heart ️ issue' throught out my family so happy days then  x

  • Hi, I will not bore you with my wife's history but when you say you had a bleed was that a steady bleed? The reason I ask is that she had one massive bleed am currently on tenterhooks having had a scan and awaiting the outcome.

    thanks

  • On thinking back I had one small bleed then another the next morning then went straight to doctors. In menapause  thought best to check

  • Hi, was only small bleed but enough to worry about so made appointment straight away, 5 years in menapause thought best to check. I had a vaginal scan then another appointment for biopsy. Easy to say now but try not to worry, there's a few things could be, just try not to Google anything, get ur information from your scans as Google reads bad things, especially when u don't k ow what's wrong xxx

  • Thanks hers was a massive bleed enough to penetrate her trousers. This has been followed by a very sporadic slow bleed most days.

    thanks Again

  • Only noticed mine on wiping (sorry if to much information) how old is your wife, is she in menapause?? Must be a worrying time at moment but tests go pretty quick, I had scans biopsy mri and ct and hysterectomy between feb and end March and this was with results wait. Hopefully scan will show problem and all will be ok x

  • Hi, thanks for speaking don't worry about level of detail .

She is 64 so well past menopause.

Of interest after your initial 2 day bleed did you stop then ? Or did it continue

    thanks

  • It's stopped weirdly but was enough to get me to the gp which I'm hopeless at going to. I was on a year of health Jan lst .diet health get fit and healthy, so when I had bleed I thought year of health get to the docs, pretty glad I did. I think after the vaginal scan I got a letter requesting hysterscopy (biopsy) then waited 10 days for results, after that everything was so quick was a blur. But could be fibroids or polyps so could all be very innocent and bleed ok, understandable that will worry and stress though, been there and is awful...but any help I can offer ask away orb here or message me x
