Sarcoma

Hello,

My Grandad has recently been diagnosed with Sarcoma.

Three on the liver, one on the hip and one on the outside of his bowel. I appreciate that my grandparents may be trying to protect me as I lost my mum to cancer, however I would prefer to know the likely stage of this. Would it be stage 4 as it has spread? Or is it not quite so simple? I know without tests I can't guess the grade.

Thank you in advance x

  • Without anyone currently knowing what those things are on the bowel, the liver and hip (they may be 2 different things. 2 might be unrelated to cancer), you're not really gonna get any further forward, but those with a definite diagnosis involving those 3 areas, would be classed as stage 4 if it was the same cancer and had spread.

Stage 3 tends to be locally advance, and maybe involves local nodes. Stage 4 tends to be and as an example only, say, cancer that originated in the lungs being found on a different organ (liver etc) than the lungs. But some people can have 2 different cancers going on at once, and as long as both remain local, then it's not stage 4.
