Colon cancer diagnosis

Hi all, found out Tuesday during a colonoscopy that I have cancer  Whilst it has to be officially confirmed the Dr said there was no doubt.  CT scan booked for Monday and hopefully will meet with the MDT following Monday. Relieved its happening so fast but I'm so scared it's spread to Liver / Lungs as I left it so late to get symptoms checked.  I'm 47 and also have Multiple Sclerosis to complicate matters.  Trying to stay positive but been awake for hours running through worst case scenarios.  No children but I have the most loveliest husband in the world that I wanted to grow old with.  Anyhow, need to stop wallowing, get up and cheer up!  Sorry for venting but it seems to help. Fingers and toes crossed.

  • Hi Dawn its not great but at least you know treatment starts now and its not being left for another month or another year ,it appears that treatments are now so much more advanced than they were even a few years ago and you will get the best treatment out there ,so I would say onwards and upwards from this point I wish you the very best outcome let us know how you go x

  • Hi Jenny,  saw surgeon today following biopsies and CT scan.  10cm tumour in large bowel which has grown into part of small bowel but has not spread into liver or lungs.  Op planned for approx 2 weeks time, surgeon confident all cancer will be removed. Not sure yet re Chemo, it will depend on histology results.  Big op but very relieved there's a plan and can now focus on the op and recovery.  Onwards and upwards! X

  • So its just as you expected Dawn but at least it hasn't spread that's great news and that they are confident of getting it all is even better ,good also that its happening quickly just enough time to start organising and preparing what you'll need afterwards ,I expect you feel a little more relieved after getting that out of the way ,definitely onwards and upwards stay in touch we're always here for a chat just take it all in your stride and you'll get through it and recover well again all my Best Wishes xxx

  • Hi, My mum has recently been diagnosed with cancer of the appendix which has spread to her colon and abdominal wall.  She was diagnosed 8 weeks ago and has not seen an oncologist yet.  Her notes were sent to a hospital which specialises in this type of cancer and they have replied to say that they recommend chemo not an operation with them.  We have an appointment with oncologist on 15th November which will be over 8 weeks since diagnosis, I can't help but worry that they are not acting quickly as there is nothing they can do??
