Liver cancer shock

My husband has just been told he has liver cancer and no treatment is being offered due to background liver disease. We are in shock and the wait for scan results and the opportunity to speak to a doctor is almost unbearable. We got the news over the phone which was the worst thing possible. It’s been 8 weeks since we heard he had a lesion on his liver and we still don’t know what is going to happen.

  • Welcome to the forum Twodogs although I'm really sorry to hear about your husband's diagnosis and that no treatment is being offered.

I can't begin to imagine how you both must be feeling right now but I'm glad you've joined us as many of our members have been on this journey so you are not alone and hopefully some of them will be along soon to offer you their support and advice.

If you or your husband would like to talk things through with one of our cancer nurses, they're available on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m. They're very insightful and will do all they can to support you both at this difficult time.

We're thinking of you Twodogs and will have our fingers crossed you get to speak to someone about this soon.

    Kind regards,

    Steph, Cancer Chat Moderator

  • Thank you for replying. I’ll pass the offer of a chat to my husband. He did get a call from a gastroenterologist yesterday but unfortunately he didn’t know why he had been given David’s case as he knew nothing about him and couldn’t tell us anything else e.g.

prognosis etc.  The doctor also said that there weren’t any reports from either of the MDTs on David’s record. It seems as though he is slipping through the cracks. I believe the telephone  appointment on Tuesday was only made because I put a complaint through the PALS system. I have now gone through PALS. This is making a bad situation so much worse.
