Lung cancer and copd

Hi not sure if this is the right place to post but I suppose I'm just looking for some advice or maybe someone that has been through something similar to talk to.

My dad has copd and emphysema quite bad possibly stage  4,he has now been told he has white modules that have grown in size on his lungs, they say they they have done lots of test all have came back negative the only thing they can not test because they say he wouldn't survive the anaesthetic is cancer. They said if it is they will offer no treatment as he is to weak for chemotherapy.I don't understand how they can say this and not be sure.

  • Hi Michelle1503,

I'm sorry to hear of the situation with your dad - this sounds really tough and I'm sure it is difficult to not have the full answers.

I'm not sure if you've been given any idea of next steps or any additional support with this, but if you feel you have further questions then do discuss this with the doctor/specialist.

If you feel you'd like to talk things through with one of our nurses, you are welcome to give them a call on freephone 0808 800 4040 (Monday-Friday, 9-5).

Meanwhile hopefully you'll receive further replies soon, particularly if others have advice or similar experience to share.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
