Hi I am due to have a lumpectomy end of October so hopefully my radiotherapy will be January. Has anyone been abroad after surgery before there radiotherapy starts. Thank you.

Hello Chunky1892. I've had a lumpectomy and, just a suggestion, but you might want to hold off making any new holiday arrangements until after your surgery, just in case your treatment plan changes. My initial treatment plan was the same as yours - a lumpectomy followed by radiotherapy - but the post-lumpectomy biopsy identified that the tumour was larger and of a higher grade than expected, plus there was cancer in one of my lymph nodes which was also not expected. They also didn't manage to get clear margins. As a result, after the lumpectomy they decided that I now needed chemo, further surgery (re-excision), full lymph node removal then radiotherapy
Hopefully everything will go ok for you, and your treatment plan won't be changed, but just flagging up that it's possible for things to change after surgery so if you haven't booked anything yet maybe hold fire until you know for definite what your treatment / timetable will be. It's good to have something to look forward to though, and lots of people's treatment plans don't change after surgery, so fingers crossed everything will be fine for you x
