Diagnosed with rectal cancer (a vent needed)

Found out I have rectal cancer T2/T3a ...with suspect secondary in pelvic area in lymph nobes.  Im so angry at the moment as my colorectal  nurse the week before told me it was curable and it had not spread so when the suspect secondary came up i was hit hard with it. I'm trying to pick my self up for the fight for my life, trying to take my mind of it like everyone says to do but struggling as 4 week ago I broke my hip and became housebound after full hip replacement I have an overactive mind (un medicated adhd as had to stop meds) just need the appointment for oncologist so I can start punching the crap out of it.

  • Hello Bakedbean,

you certainly seem to do nothing by half measures currently,so l am guessing you are currently tied up with recovering from the hip replacement (been there) so with your other problem coming on top,its no wonder you want to have a good rant. .Like you l had an almost identical diagnosis, but l managed to to put some distance between the two issues,so l have an understanding of the difficulties you face.

l can why your stress levels have marched off over the top of the hill, and can see this is not a good thing, but now you have had the chance of a good scream, hopefully they will have heard and returned back safely to your side, for a while at least.

l can understand your current frustration with the cancer journey, its like a voyage of discovery, your ship has set sail and left the harbour, marooned in the doldrums and yet to be told exactly where it is you heading too.It always seems so drawn out as you wait for some answers, but they will come and should enable you to set a course for future recovery..It can be a rough crossing with a quite a few storms to be navigated, but doable as l found out, and journeys end a great relief..So inkeeping with the theme, , keep your ship in good order, your eye on your compass, and travel safely to your preferred destination,

                                        safe journey,

                                                                David

  • Thanks David. We'll seen oncologist and have ct planning scan tomorrow they are planning radio and chemo running together. So least there is a  plan now

  • Hello again,

it will be a great relief and a step forward to have a treatment plan up and running, l guess you you will shortly be making the aqquantance of a former friend of mine shortly, goes by the name of Eavy Exhaustion, hardly a bundle of fun but he does move on quite quickly. Stay safe, calm and stress free to allow the treatment to do the best job for you,

                                                                                          David
