Phyllodes Tumour

Hi all,

I've just been diagnosed with a BENIGN Phyllodes tumour following a fibroadenoma diagnosis and a biopsy.

I'm so glad it's benign obviously but I've fallen down a rabbit hole online about it and I have so many concerns. It's so rare and also most common in women in their 40s and 50s and I'm only 25..

I've never had any surgery at all and I'm really scared about being put under general anaesthetic and would love to hear from anyone who's had this tumour and experience.

I realise this is a cancer forum an I'm incredibly fortunate that this isn't my diagnosis so I hope my posting isn't disrespectful, I just need a bit of support as I'm feeling quite overwhelmed.

Thanks,

Mia

  • Hello Mia,

A big welcome to Cancer Chat! Rest assured your post is not at all disrespectful and I hope that you will find support from others here who have had a phyllodes tumour. I've had a little look on the forum for past threads on the subject and found a few that might be of interest to you, such as [@Mcvikki]‍'s thread on this page or [@Nikki1981]‍'s thread here. Feel free to respond to them if you wish and you can also look up other threads on the subject by typing the words 'phyllodes tumour' on the magnifying glass located on the 'search forum' blue banner at the top.

Macmillan has detailed information on phyllodes tumours which I hope you will find helpful.

I hope that you will hear from the experience of other members of the forum who have had surgery before and were diagnosed with a similar tumour and that they will share their story with you.

I hope that the surgery will go well for you and that you make a quick and full recovery.

    Best wishes,

    Lucie, Cancer Chat Moderator
