New diagnosis for my mother

Feel totally numb and heartbroken just now. From nowhere my mum had what seemed like a mini stroke a couple of weeks ago. After a visit to A&E and some testing and scans she has been diagnosed with lung cancer, which is in lymph nodes and has metastases to the frontal lobe in her brain. We are in such shock as my mum is such a happy, on the go person no previous symptoms to be given a diagnosis like this is just devastating. She has just been in and had a endoscopy done today and we are hoping to hear next week regarding any treatment options available. I feel so numb with all the information and I have been balancing  my work, own family and looking after my mum and dad and niece who lives with them. My mum isn't in anyway feeling unwell at this point but is tiring quick and on medication to help with seizures. Has anyone else had this type of diagnosis or a family member that could help me in understanding in what is ahead. Thanks

  • Hello, I'm so sorry to hear about your mum's diagnosis (my dad has been diagnosed with an aggressive cancer with mets to the lungs).
There is currently a clinical trial for advanced lung cancer using Pembrolizumab. My advice is to see whether she would be suitable for the trial.

Sending peace to you and your family x

  • Thankyou for the reply and also sorry to hear about your dad's diagnosis such a heartbreaking time. I will enquire when back to discuss further about treatment  Hope you have some good news with the trial and something works to atleast slow it down.

Sending good Hope and wishes to your dad and family x
