Advice!

My husband has just been diagnosed with a cancerous tumor on his lung,

I.am jousting needing some advice and support

  • Hi Essle07,

Couldn't read and not reply.  I don't have any advice as I have breast cancer, not long but can offer support.  I had surgery today to remove mass and biopsies taken from nodes.  I'm definitely having radio and more than likely chemo as I just turned 31.

Cancer research and MacMillan are great for advice and support (for your husband and yourself). Please do not Google anything. All the information you need these charities have and are more up to date.

Sending love to you and your family xx

  • Hi Essle07,

It's early days for much specific advice, but I would say:

    1. Sit down and write all the questions you can think of before you visit the hospital. Some will get answered without asking anyway, but the rest you will be glad you had a crib sheet to help you.

    2. Likewise, write down all the answers you get when you're there. They might come too fast to cope with, and might not be easy to understand, but having notes will save confusion and help you ask better questions next time.

    3. This is a diagnosis that is more terrifying than he will have dealt with before, there's no telling how he will handle it. Same goes for you too. Be prepared for lots of "cutting some slack", both ways.

    kind regards,
    Steve
