High grade dcis with micro invasion

Hi all

My 37 year old wife had a masectomy which the pathology results said is 8cm high grade dcis with hormone negative microinvasion.

The consultant said they are having an mdt meeting to see if any further treatment is required.  I'm asking for advice from anyone who has had a similar diagnosis so I can get an idea of what the further treatment may be? The consultant said this is early stage but I can't find anything online to say exactly what treatment would be

Thanks

  • Hopefully some of our members who have had a similar diagnosis to your wife will let you know what treatment they had soon Alfob but if you'd like to discuss this further with one of our cancer nurses, they're available on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m. They're very knowledgeable and will do all they can to answer your questions and offer some insight in to what may happen next.

We're thinking of you Alfob and hope you and your wife won't have to wait too long for the results of the MDT meeting.

    Kind regards,

  • Hi there, I had grade 3 Ductal cancer with micro vascular invasion , diagnosed September 2021.
I had a 23 mm tumour which turned out to be ER positive. For this diagnosis I had a lumpectomy in November which lead to a sample being sent for the oncotype test which looks at the make up of the tumour and identifies if chemo is beneficial for the type.
I started chemo in January finishing in May and the I had one week of radiotherapy in June. I am now on letrozole for 5 years which in a way suppresses the production of eostrogen as this was the hormone that was feeding my tumour.

This treatment was specific to my tumour type so I'm sure things will become clearer when you speak to the consultant again. I know it's difficult to not look for similar experiences as I did exactly what you have done but sometimes this causes more worry so I would try to wait and see what is the plan for your wife which will be specific to her diagnosis.  I didnt find anyone that had been diagnosed with exactly what I had so I think I just worried more because I thought it must be rare but I am out the other side now and doing really well.

    best wishes xxx
