Dad diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma

Hello

My dad had a lung nodule ( upper right lobe) which has been confirmed to be lung cancer . The consultant has said they 'think' they've caught it in time, but will know more when he sees his surgeon.I am obviously devastated that he has this happening to him. Just looking for support please and maybe some postive stories?

many thanks

  • Hello Concerned 2022 and welcome to Cancer Chat.

I'm sorry to hear your dad's been diagnosed with lung cancer but it's encouraging to hear that they think they've caught it in time.

I know it will be an anxious wait until your dad sees his surgeon but many members of our community have contended with squamous cell carcinoma so you and your dad are not alone on this journey and hopefully some of them will be along soon to offer you their support and share their stories and advice.

You're also welcome to talk things through with our cancer nurses on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m. They're very informative and will do all they can to answer any questions you have about this diagnosis.

    Kind regards,

  • Thanks Stef, think it'll be better once he's seen the surgeon on Monday . I know although it won't be nice having another operation it's the outcome we want to be able to remove the disease. Thanks again
