BCC diagnosis

Hello. Feel a bit scared. GP I saw yesterday said I had prob BCC & said it needed to be removed. I've had a 1cm patch of red/scaly skin under my arm for at least 18 months. Pharmacist thought it was dermatitis. Other GP thought it was fungal...So was a bit suprised yesterday to be told it was BCC. Anyhow...just on here reading other posts & it made me feel better. Just the 'C' word can be scary!

  • Hello Bunnie20 and a warm welcome to Cancer Chat,

I know the 'C' word can be scary but I am glad that reading other posts on here has made you feel a little better. You can read more on our website on basal cell carcinoma and I hope that you will find the information reassuring. It's good that they are investigating this and that your GP now suspects it is BCC. The important thing is that you finally get a diagnosis and you will hopefully soon have a treatment plan.

If you have any questions, feel free to give our cancer nurses a call on this free number 0808 800 4040 - their line is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm.

I hope that you will hear from other members of the forum who have had a BCC diagnosis before and that they will come and share their experience with you.

    Best wishes,

  • Thank you for your message Lucy, it's much appreciated!
And also thank you for the information on BCC which is very useful. Hopefully, like you say I'll get treatment planned soon.
    Best wishes

  • Just to say I had my BCC removed a few weeks ago. All went ok & I had confirmation yesterday of the biopsy & that no further treatment is needed. My wound is healing well. So...I just wanted to say anyone out there that's scared or worried...it will get sorted & healing process is swift!
