Hi
I have been diagnosed with thy3f and recommended to do surgery probably in a hospital in Essex. But mostly I'm scared from doing that and I would be glad to hear some experience from someone who has had surgery and in that area.

Welcome to the Cancer Chat community Rockythecat although I'm sorry to hear you've been diagnosed with thyroid cancer.
Many of our members have contended with this diagnosis so hopefully you will get to hear about their experiences soon but whilst you wait I wanted to share this discussion with you, as a member called shs1 had their operation for thy3f at the beginning of June.
I hope this helps but if you'd like to talk things through with one of our cancer nurses, you can give them a call on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m. They're very supportive and will do all they can to answer your questions and put your mind at ease about what's to come.
We're thinking of you Rockythecat and wishing you all the best with your surgery when the time comes.
Kind regards,
Steph, Cancer Chat Moderator
Hi just wanted to say hello sorry I have no advise for you but I'm going through the same thing right now. Here's my story a little over 9 weeks ago I found a lump in the left hand side of my neck I went to the GP the next day to be told it was just a swollen lymph node I think you know when something isn't quite right. After a couple weeks passed I was then referred by a different GP to the ENT on the 2 week referral. On visiting the consultant there he had a good feel of my neck and did the camera thing all looked well but he did find a 2nd lump so he wanted a ultrasound and biopsy doing. I got this done the following week it took more then 3 weeks for my results which I got over the phone as to not delay anything further. My results came back as a u3 nodule with biopsy results thy4 I've been told I'll also need surgery for half of my thyroid to be removed for testing. I see the consultant next week to discuss everything i think the waiting is the worst part. I hope everything goes well for you.
