Cervical cancer

Just wanted to share my experience in hope it helps someone else, as I found myself constantly googling and ending up here reading through others stories.

I stupidly went for my first smear test at 34 don't know why I left it so long, came back as severe CIN3 within 2 days I had a colposcopy, it all went fine but for some reason my brain went into overdrive I was so worried and couldn't stop googling, 6 weeks later the biopsy results from the lettz procedure came back as cancerous cells and I was petrified thought I was gonna die and felt so guilty for my kids I missed my smears, a few days later I went for an MRI and a CT which were fine, 2 days later the consultant called me and said it was very early stage 1 and all cancer was removed when I had the lettz, never felt so relieved!

Also I haven't experienced any symptoms of cervical cancer as it was very early x

  • Hello 12160064 and a warm welcome to Cancer Chat,

Thank you so much for sharing your story and I hope that it will inspire other ladies who read it to make sure they attend their cervical screenings and that they have the treatment if abnormal cervical cells are found. I am so glad that the cancer was caught very early. It must have been such a stressful time for you and Googling certainly doesn't help and will inevitably make you feel a lot more anxious. It must have been a huge relief for you to be told by the consultant that it was very early stage 1 and that all the cancer was removed when you had the Lletz. We're so pleased for you that all this is now behind you. Make sure that you carry on attending your smear tests from now on so that any suspicious cell can be dealt with immediately.

    Best wishes,
