SUN EXPOSURE AFTER CHEMO AND RADIOTHERAPY

This week I have done the last chemo and cannot wait to have a glimpse of real life again. Will rest for 2-3 weeks but would like to plan a small holiday late August. I am reading online that exposure to sun should be limited and min SPF30 used.. Is UV clothing really protective or I need to protect from the infra-red as well??? Some chemo’s are also photosensitive. TC docetaxel (also called Taxotere); cyclophosphamide is not the most photosensitive drugs but they can be… I would be grateful for your experience with Sun exposure and protecting yourself. Thank you!

  • Hi Gloria, I finished chemo on 3 rd May and radiotherapy on 10 th June for  BC. I am going to Greece at the end of August and have been told to wear factor 50 on my breast even with clothes on as the rays can penetrate clothing and a minimum of factor 30 elsewhere.

I have bought a factor 100 as I am anticipating it being very hot and wouldn't risk getting burnt.

I  have costumes too instead of bikini's and tops that arnt thin strapped but will be cool. Hope this helps.

    Take care xx
