Hi everyone,
heres my story so far
I have had it confirmed that i have bowel cancer in the right side of my colon, the tumour is about 2cm, they will not put a stage on it yet, although the following is positive The CT scans did not show anything in the lymph nodes or the organs that this type of cancer would normally spread to, liver, lungs, etc, all scans were clear The reason they won’t stage it yet is because of the original anomaly that showed up when I had my appendix out, this is in an area where there should not be anything, it’s an area on fatty tissue called the mesentery and this part of it is between the pancreas, bottom of the stomach, and the start of the small intestine, (no signs of anything in these organs) the anomaly has not changed size or shape between scans and is 1.7cm. To get to it when they take out part of my colon they will take a little bit more out than they would normally do so that they can then take out the anomaly, it will then be sent to pathology along with the colon section and local lymph nodes. after this has been tested they will then know more and commit to a stage, it's the anomoly that is stopping them commiting to a stage at this time. I am going in for surgery on Friday 30th July (next week) The professor we spoke to who will be doing the operation seemed more interested in the anomaly because they have never seen this and have no clue what it is.
nervous as hell, but i'm happy things are moving fast
