How long before the treatment is starts?

Hello, this is my first post on any forum.  My mum has been diagnosed with a mass on her frontal lobe.  I'm so devastated.  However things seem to be moving incredibly slowly and I just wanted to check if this was normal.  My mum had a migraine on Monday morning, she became confused Monday night so I took her the A&E.  She had a CT on Tuesday, they found bleeding.  They repeated the CT on Wednesday, and decided on an MRI on Thursday.  A very very junior doctor (no consultant available) told us that a mass was found on her frontal lobe, but she couldn't tell us any more.  She said they needed to wait until the MDT next week at some point before they could grade it and make a plan. They have started steroids.  I don't know the grade/type/prognosis/anything.  I'm turning myself inside out with worry.  Does this sound normal or are they dragging their feet a bit?

  • I'm so sorry to hear about your Mum but things have moved incredibly fast for her.  The meeting they hold will involve numerous people who will discuss her results in depth and once everyone has decided the outcome a plan if action will be put in place.  You will be advised of this and its impossible for you to have any information until this meeting is concluded.  Mum will be contacted and then you will know what is being considered the best way forward.  Best wishes, Carol

  • Thank you Carol.  My head is all over the place and I just don't know what to expect, what's normal.
